Lazy and dumb on such an extreme level that I thought it was hilarious at times. Basically from the point where the villain is introduced clumsily by Sebastian the Crab’s scream of “Ursula’s crazy sister!” I never stopped laughing at the movie’s deficiencies. In fact, that scene is a perfect microcosm of everything that was wrong with Disney’s 90’s sequels: boring surface-level mimicry, vacuity, lazy construction, and piss-poor storytelling fundamentals. The plot ping pongs from convenience to contrivance all the way through. The new characters fail to be interesting. And the writers fell into the age-old trap of making everything in their sequel a reference to what came before. It’s audience-insultingly dumb.
