Black Box is a competent psychological horror film that slowly stews. It’s a bit on the slow side, and I wouldn’t suggest it for those seeking thrills and action. But there is a good deal of character drama, and it works. This is punctuated by moments of suspense and dread as the main character comes to grips with inconsistencies in his memory and behavior, especially when the audience is given reasons to worry that he may be becoming dangerous to himself or others. The performances are good, but most characters are subdued so no one is really “showing off”.
Not a masterpiece, but still an easy recommendation.
