But the explosion is very muted. Owen and Luke Wilson play longtime friends and petty crooks who decide to perform a robbery. Their characters are ineptitude meets ambivalence, and it should go without saying that the two are entirely unprepared as the situation escalates and they decide to double-up on their criminality.
The brothers have great on-screen chemistry, which should surprise no one. James Caan is excellent in a supporting role whose presence builds to great payoff towards the end.
The film has drama, romance, a little suspense, and a whole lot of laughs. If you want a small-scale crime comedy about some knuckleheads, give it a watch.
