Too focused on landing memes to tell an effective story. Every other line of dialogue and character interaction seems to have been ruthlessly optimized for virality, to the point that it throws both tension and emotionality right out the window. The content in this movie is fine, the ideas are good, but the film is too concerned with ensuring media cycles to focus in and engage the heart or mind for more than a split second at a time.
It'll entertain you for a few hours, but if you're looking for the best alternate reality, this one is pale, pale shades of Into the Spider-Verse.
